Impression management is such a progress that in the interpersonal communication people take some behaviors to influence the others for creating a specific impression. Impression management appears in many social occasions, especially as a common behavior in job interview with a view to get a good rating from the interviewer. In today’s society, social competition gets more fierce, the employment situation gets more serious, under the influence of financial crisis, to obtain a job getting difficult. Lot’s of undergraduate and graduated students could not get a satisfied job, and for those students of adult education to get a satisfied job get even more difficult because of their weaker basic theory, professional knowledge and comprehensive quality. So it could be an issue worthy to be paid attention and analyzed that how the adult education students use impression management strategy to show themselves, to attract the interviewer, to break the bottleneck of themselves and to win the interviewers’favor in the job interview. This paper starting from a microcosmic and specific lay—the view of impression management strategy analyzes impression management in job interview of adult education students, and aims to explore the structure of the impression management strategy in job interview,and work out a questionnaire fit the physical truth of those students and do a actual measurement, understand the features of the impression management strategy in job interview of the adult education students, and investigate the relation of self-monitoring level and impression management strategy.Based on the literature review, open questionnaire survey and experts discussion, we worked out the structure of the impression management strategy in job interview for the the adult education students, and work out a questionnaire with14items for it. We used this questionnaire investigate360students, and use structural equation model to prove the theoretical construct of the impression management strategy of adult education students in job interview. We also investigate the feature of the impression management strategy of adult education students in job interview in different variable such as major, gender and so on, and discuss the relation of impression management strategy and self-monitoring level. Finally, we conduct a statistic analysis for the effective responses. The results shows that:(1) The impression management strategy of adult education students in job interview is composed of4factors—self-displaying, courting, rationalization and weak point envisaging.(2) Editing questionnaire is up to the mastard of psychometrics with a good structure and good reliability and validity.(3)The variable of demography impacts the impression management strategy of adult education students in job interview effectively, in other words, gender has a significant effect on courting strategy, and the males use more courting strategy than the females; gender impacts the total scores of strategy significantly, the scores of the males being higher than the scores of the females; grade has a significant effect on the rationalization strategy, the graduating classes use more rationalization strategy than the other classes.(4) The variable of demography impacts the self-monitoring of adult education students effectively. To be specific, gender has a significant effect the self-monitoring of adult education and the males have a significantly higher level than the females. Major impacts the self-monitoring of adult education students significantly, the Science students have a significantly higher self-monitoring level than the Arts; grade has a significant effect on the self-monitoring of adult education students, the graduating classes have a significantly higher self-monitoring level than the other classes.(5)Self-monitoring level has a positive effect on the impression management strategy of adult education students in job interview. To be specific, the self-monitoring of adult education students has a significant positive effect on on the impression management strategy of adult education students in job interview, and it means that the adult education students who has a high self-monitoring level could use more self-displaying strategy in job interview than those having a low self-monitoring level.
