Impression management refers to this kind of action in which individual endeavors to influence other's attitude and opinion toward him by controlling information he leaves to others during interaction and self-identification. This common action reflects that individual intends to beautify himself so as not to disfigure his image. The tactic of impression management can be classified into the following categories by their different cause and effect, that is, assertive management and defensive management.The application of impression management often occurs in interview. Previous study emphasis the non-linguistic tactic with little target on the linguistic tactic and the effect of interaction. The thesis chose two linguistic tactics from the perspective of assertive impression management as to firstly discuss the influence of self-control of interviewer on the application of impression management in the process of interactive interviewing and then to discuss the influence of the two tactics on the evaluation of interview.The thesis created questionnaire on the basis of existing qualitative data and sent 450 copies to the target interviewee and interviewer in 20 companies in Guangzhou, with feedback of 315 copies.
