Food is the basis for human survival. Food safety is not only related to people’slives and health, but also related to national stability and social development. Sincethe reform and opening up, with the economic development and living standardscontinue to improve, the focus of public attention gradually up from the quantity offood to the food safety. However, China’s food security situation is not optimistic,especially food safety incidents occur frequently, such as clenbuterol, waste oil,inferior milk powder in recent years, challenge the bottom line of the moral and legal.These incidents causes heavy loss of people’s life and health and property, bringspublic discontent and panic on the one hand, on the other hand disrupted the normaleconomic order, cause the social integrity crisis, and even threaten the credibility ofthe government. Therefore,establish efficient and perfect regulation system at once toraise the level of food safety,is the most important work of food safety work in China.The marxist political economics and regulatory economics is the basic theories ofthe article. This article analys the main problems of China’s food safety regulation andthe causes of the problem,drawed on the experience of food safety regulation of theworld’s major developed countries,and finally, put forward some proposals on theimprovement of China’s food safety regulation.This article has been divided into fivechapters: The first chapter is the introduction, including the background andmeanings of selected topic, the related literature review,research thinking and methods,the innovation and shortcomings of the article. The second chapter is the politicaleconomics analysis of food safety, including Capital profit-driven analysis andStakeholder analysis. The third chapter analysis of the problems and their causes offood safety, point out a series of problems in China’s food safety regulations,andfurther analyses the cause of the problems. The fourth chapter is an overview ofdeveloped countries’ food safety regulation, analysethe characteristics and successful experience of food safety regulations in the United States, Japan and the EU. The fifth chapter is the proposal of improving the foodsafety regulations. Including the improvement of the four parts: the legislative andlegal systems of food safety regulations, the system of food safety regulation, themechanism food safety regulation, the external environment of food safety regulation.
