In2008, accompany with the global automotive industry recession but in China thisindustry is booming.13.6Million and18Million automotive produce/sales in2009and2012have already made the new highest record. The figure which is even higher than the17million, the peak number in America history, shows that Chinese Automotive Market is thelargest one in the whole world.At the same time, behind the high market increasing of automotive, the auto partssuppliers are facing the new challenge of sharp increasing of OEM order, imitated capacityboth at sub-supplier and own production line. Those new challenge are becoming more andmore critical.In such a market background, in order to increase the ability of supply chainmanagement, short the OEM order reaction time, optimize the equipment utilization, reducethe inventory, increase the case flow, Continental AG start the implementation of SAP APOin whole global Continental group after Acquisition of Siemens VDO in2007. The purposeof this APO project implementation is to utilize continental global resource, increase theoperation capability and also increase the competitive strength of Continental. The main goalof this project is to keep Continental leading position in the global automotive business.With current SAP R/3system in Continental Automotive Changchun, Theimplementation of SAP APO which we could call it "2nd development of ERP" projectwhich is just like The Sword of Damocles to Continental, a successful projectimplementation means a high increase of operation capability, but risk is always togetherwith the interest. How to successfully lunch a new ERP system in a global company is a newchallenge to Continental AG so a cross-function, multi-nationality, Cross-department projectteam have been setup. The goal of this project team is to leading the implementation incontinental global base on the Project Management Theory and a clear project managementprocess. This article will focus on the SAP APO implementation in Continental AutomotiveChangchun, analysis the current Order Management and Production Planning process. Andalso introduce the new process in Continental Automotive Changchun after the projectimplementation. This article analyses the experience during the project implementation onthe basis of the project management theory.
