It is widely popular that outdoor adventure and mountain sports. But without training,the majority of outdoor adventurers lack self-protection and self-rescue capacity facingthe danger and emergency. In the event of adventurer in danger or missing, they onlyexpect the management to rescue them. And management often invested a lot ofmanpower and material resources to rescue. But it is not available for current searchtechnology by the way the traditional ground manpower search and general human eyeobservation on aircraft. Secondly, because searched places are unexplored mature areawhere contain complexity of terrain conditions and the poor of communications,medical and climate. As a result, it is difficult to search and rescue missing persons.As a new industry, UAV are supported by government. The UAV owns advantages asunmanned aerial, light weight, small size, the lower requirement for weather whenlaunching and landing. So these features help us to raise fresh technology forwilderness search. But present technologies include aerial photograph, infraredindentification, thermal imagery and image indentification.These universal technologyonly applicable to an open area of grasslands, lakes and fewer obstructions. But thereis no better search solution for the forests, mountains, houses, cave shelter and densermaterials area. What is more, this search technology based on image algorithms tendto increase chance of false positive and false negative due to differences in algorithmsand natural environment,so it is not obvious for search and rescue effect. And theevent of adventurer in danger or missing it is the important target to get geographicalposition otherwise it is a threat to the life of missing person. In additon, there is alsothe same safety problem for the expedition and geological team. For these reason, it isimportant to propose a new search and rescue technology for this problem. With the rapid development of short range wirelss communication, many freshtechnologies as Bluetooth, Zigbee, UWB, HomeRF and Wifi changed our thoughtsand life. So combined advantage of UAV with the short range wirelss communicationtechnology, we raise the search system based on a short range wirelesscommunication technology on UAV platform for tourists, geological team andprofessional expedition on different terrain.In this paper, by using electronic information technology, short range wirelesscommunication technology and the UAV, the airborne detect and rescue beaconmachine are developed. It is effective for search system to get geographic location andidentification number of the missing persons.Firstly, the article describes the trouble for the various existing search technologyand UAV search technology, then discuss and analysis this trouble. Secondly, weraised search system based on a short range wireless communication technology onUAV, then described the advantages and disadvantages of various system, keytechnologies, available application. Thirdly, we focus on hardware circuit design anddevelopment of software. Finally, by installing and debugging the search device, wetest the system for various situation and analysis test data.Through the introduction of the article, it is clear understanding of the advantagesand disadvantages of system, key technologies, the design plan and availableapplication of system. It is promote for wilderness search and rescue technology touse search system based on the short range wireless communication technology onUAV platform. In the end, it is the fresh thought and way for search and rescue systemby UAV.
