With the development of modern industry, Automation technology has been applied in many ways of industrial manufacture. But in the production line, enterprises suffer a lot from important equipment damage because of metal impurities mixed in raw materials. So for the purpose of solving these problems, Metal detection system is necessary to be introduced in this producing line to examine metal impurities and to protect the equipment.This paper has explained an metal detection system based on Embedded ARM to detect the metal impurities in tobacco industry which means to detect online and remove the impurity, only in this way can production be carried on in order and the efficiency can be improved. The main contents of this paper are as follows:1. Designing of system:The function and technical index of this metal detector are determined by the practical application environment of tobacco producing line, and based on this information the system design idea and design scheme of embedded system comes out.2. Realization of the hardware platform:Data processing and controlling unit are accomplished with the help of Micro2440demo board based on S3C2440A, and then some circuit modules are made, including signal detecting circuit, removing circuit and antenna of detection identification.3. Development and implementation of device drivers:Square wave as the transmitting source signal coming from PWM timer is designed to simplified the HW construction and make full use of S3C2440A, then collecting data by ADC transition unit. Device driver is developed on the basis of designing principle of Linux.4. Metal recognition algorithm and application software research:Accuracy of identifying the metal is promoted with DFT recognition algorithm by extract the phase and amplitude parameters of target signal. A human-computer interaction platform, which is smart interface and easy to operate, is established based on embedded QT programming. Through many dates of the experiment, the metal detection system based on this paper can complete metal detecting and removing impurity automatically, the spec was achieved successfully.
