With the rapid development of power network intelligentialize, electric power communication as the important means of power system management and safety operation is synchronously developing with the fast development and extension of the power system. SDH (synchronous digital hierarchy) has more advantages, such as,supporting signal synchronization, offering a variety of self recovery mode, network topology structure diversification and standardizing of network management interface and light interface. Therefore, SDH have been widely applied in the power communication net.The self-recovery technology of SDH network is a ability that network can automatically recover from the failure of the fault in very limited spans of time without manual intervention. With the SDH widely used in power communication network, to protect the reliability of the transmission channel business is more and more important. How to evaluate the SDH self-recovery capability, improve business performance has become a crucial problem. However, the measurement and evaluation to the SDH network self-recovery capacity in the real time operation of the electric power network will bring the serious influence, and rarely has the reality of the available network can support to evaluate all sorts of SDH self-recovery capability. Thus, if the simulation method can be effectively used to simulate the SDH self-recovery process and methods, display the SDH network self-recovery capability and its effect intuitively, and study the business performance of the influence, it will have a major value and significance to safety operation of the power grid and the research and updating of telecommunication network.In this paper, through the study of the current construction of SDH network, especially the analysis of SDH network application and realization, firstly presents the modeling requirements including the method to access network resources of simulation SDH ring net and the behavior to simulate the protect rearrangement. And then, the design of SDH network is given by designing the simulation system structure, data model, a self-recovery algorithm and system interface.Based on the analysis and design, the simulation system of the power SDH network self-recovery based on B/S structure is realizes in this paper. It can display the methods and process of the power SDH network self-recovery, be applied to the training of the operation and maintenance, and measure or evaluate the network self-recovery capacity. Through the function testing, such power SDH network self-recovery simulation system was proved to meet the self-recovery requirements that dynamic simulation and display the network protection and rearrangement of self-recovery function and so on.
