Internet of Things (IoT) is a network for goods to exchange their message and communicate with each other directly. It is the extension and expansion of the Internet. With recent development of related fields and disciplines, universities which have very thick atmosphere of science research, become the spreading and teaching platform of the IoT technologies. Therefore, many colleges and universities have launched courses related to IoT. Meanwhile, they are trying to design and implement their own IoT experiment platform. However, the construction of IoT experiment platform is still on their exploratory stage.In this thesis, I design and implement a practical experiment platform with professional features. In order to make it easier for students to master the IoT technologies, the platform is built into three parts, WSN experiment system, RFID experiment system and the exploring experiment system. The WSN has three function layers, perception layer, communication layer and application layer. Therefore, the WSN experiment system is divided into three experiment units, WSN acquisition and control experiment, WSN network communication experiment and WSN application experiment. Each unit contains some different experiments through which students can learn about related function layer. The RFID experiment system is also divided into three units, experiential experiments, basic experiments and comprehensive experiments. In this way, students can learn the RFID technology step by step.In this thesis, I firstly introduce the relevant theoretical knowledge of IoT, wireless sensor networks and RFID, and then elaborate the overall design of the experiment platform and related hardware and software. The experiment platform mainly consists of two parts, the WSN experiment system and RFID experiment system. Combined with the specific needs of the experiment platform, it details the design and implementation process of the WSN experiment system and RFID experiment system. At the same time, it gives the experiment sample of some of the experiments as well as the test cases. Finally, it makes a summary and outlook of the work.The experiment platform has broad application prospects. It is a great application of IoT theory and practice. It contributes to students’ in-depth learning and research on IoT technologies. At present, the experiment platform has been already in service in the construction of the IoT laboratories.
