In the application of CAD/CAM technology, people can design3D model directlythrough the computer and quickly generate the product. Compared with the traditionalOrthographic Views,3D model has huge advantages. Orthographic Views as a Commontechnical language in engineering, therefore,how to generate3D solid reconstruction from2D orthographic by computer is an important research direction in CAD/CAMtechnology. There have been many related methods at home and abroad since Idesawa firstraised this subject, however further researches and improvements are needed in order tocarry out the actual application.This paper first discusses and contracts the current3D reconstruction algorithms;secondly determining the final development platform by contrastively researching thedeveloped approaches, and introducing the relevant technical knowledge; finally,elaborating the theoretical basis of3D reconstruction method from the understanding ofviews and3D solid modeling methods, and determines to use CSG model as the method of3D reconstruction.Based on the above theoretical knowledge, this paper put forward some algorithms toachieve the reconstruction of3D solid. Firstly, some advanced transactions are carried outfor Orthographic Views, such as the completion of incomplete information in views, theidentification of each graphical feature and the interactive separation of views. Secondly,the3D solid is created by a series of steps, such as the extraction and extension ofcharacteristic data from graphical features, matching the features based on those data,generating elementary solid based on3matched features, determining the position of the3D elementary solid, distinguishing the actual situation, and creating a3D model based onelementary solids.In order to validate the approach and the new project of3D reconstruction, anadvanced programming tool is developed by using the function of ObjectARX,a software system based on AutoCAD; and certain elementary tests by some samples have beencarried out. The results indicate that the arithmetic is feasible for the elementary solids andtheir combination.
