Based on computer technology, virtual reality technology can build a realistic virtualenvironment where the user can interact with the object in the virtual environment by thenecessary equipment, combined with the high-technology of interactive technology, real-timetechnology and immersive technology.So that the user can integrate into the virtualenvironment to feel virtual experience which is similar to the real-world, interact to produceimmersive experience with the real environment.In recent years, the application of virtual reality technology in the field of computer hasattracted widely attention, especially the establishment of virtual campus. The design andimplementation of the virtual campus has become the current direction of many universities’research. As a simulation of the campus environment, the virtual campus contributes to thecampus plan and management, also makes the users adopt the dynamic interaction way tobrowse school fully.The paper has used the virtual campus of Shandong Normal University new campus as anexample, adopts3DS MAX as a three-dimensional modeling environment and VR-Platformplatform as a virtual simulation environment of Zhong Shidian digital technology company,achieves the virtual campus system with the function of roaming,interoperating and inquiringthe building information. The content of the paper is following:1. The section elaborates the research meaning of the virtual campus dimensional scene,generally presentes the domestic and international research of virtual reality technology and thevirtual campus. Also it studies the modeling and interactive platform to realize the virtualcampus, discusses the advantages of the instrument and relational key technologies.2. Virtual campus’s planning and design is the basis of the creation of the entire virtualcampus system, which is indispensable to the creation of virtual campus. This section describesthe system design of three-dimensional campus, mainly including the requirement analysis of virtual campus, the system’goal needed to reach and the system development process.3. The quality level of the virtual campus model is related to the virtual campus’s realfeeling. This section selects different modeling methods and modeling programes based on thecharacteristics of different types of buildings, which3D modeling tools3DS MAX as aprecondition, mainly researches the architectural modeling, the external landscape modeling,sky modeling and special fonts modeling, and discusses the implementation steps andprecautions of the materials, lights, baking.4.The immersive of virtual campus depends on the interaction strength of virtualcampus.To enhance the realism and realistic level of the virtual campus,the section is based onvirtual reality platform VR-Platform,focuses on the collision detection settings,the creation ofdifferent types of cameras, and database connection, and gives the related implementations. Atthe same time, it introduces the playing system ahout three-dimensional virtual campusdimensional scene, expounds the aspects of need test and the corresponding system optimizationprogram.The paper describes the structure and composition of the virtual campus dimensional scene,provides the system framework structure diagram and implementations to achieve the basicrequirements of a virtual campus,deeply studies and explores several techniques of the virtualcampus building, completes a three-dimensional virtual campus scene with the basic functionsof automatic roaming,independent browse and improved function of picking up the informationof the construction, faithfully reproduces the three-dimensional landscape of the campus. Theusers can freely roam in the three-dimensional virtual campus and can achieve a series ofrealistic feelings by the interactional operation.
