The datas from the31st Statistical Report of China’s Internet Developing Situation published by CNNIC(China Internet Network Information Center)show the population of Chinese internet user has grown up to564million,in which50,9million are newly developed in this year until the end of December2012.The internet penetration rate is42.1%, a percentage of3.8increased compared with the end of2011.The weibo(Chinese microblog created by sina) users have reached a scale of309million,58.73million increased compared with the end of2011.The rapid expansion phase of weibo has ended, even though the annual growth rate still can be23.5%.The Canadian conmunication scholar Marshall McLuhan once pointed out that the greatest significance of new media’s appearing was they were tremendously changing people’s living style, as well as overturning the modes of social communication and interflow.As an internet development product, weibo is gradually changing public’s medium habits and information dissemination modes, meanwhile it has become the most immediate social medium with the most active users. With leading the development of self-media era, weibo recipients are not only information receivers, but also turning into information producers and disseminators. Besides, weibo combines the modes and characteristics of interpersonal, group, and mass media, putting them on the same net stage at the same time, so that people could timely complete the multilateral information exchanging and resource sharing, which is a way that is benefit for the individual self-presentation and expression, is conducive to the weibo users’ expansion of interpersonal relationships.Under the background of weibo’s rise and becoming popular, based on a group of college students, combined with the relevant principles of communication, through surveys, depth interviews, case studies and other methods to investigate the use of weibo, this thesis put emphasis on studying the following problems:As an emerging communication medium, the kind of development weibo has experienced, and the characteristics and types of transmission weibo has. The situation that how college students use weibo, as well as the motivations and ways;How, how much,and in which aspects, the use of weibo affects people’s interpersonal relations.The analysis of the effect of using weibo on college students’ interpersonal relationship has been divided into two aspects, which are the breadth and the depth of the effects of using weibo on college students’interpersonal relationship, and the summarize is based on this. Based on the content related to depth and breadth effects, the author put forward the14assumptions, which are verified one by one through a series of analysis on questionnaires.The conclusions are as follows:1. Weibo the length of time and the level of frequency is conducive to college students to strengthen in some interpersonal relationships, but for college students to explore new relationships effect is not obvious.2. Weibo use the length of time and the level of frequency is conducive to college students access to information, but limited impact on college students’ social participation.3. Weibo use the length of time and the level of frequency will increase college students’ self-presentation and appraisal of him, but it does not form college students self-awareness and self-behavioral adjustment.
