The rising and development of micro-blog bring a quiet "micro revolution" to the Internet. Undoubtedly, the revolution has brought influence cannot be ignored to interpersonal communication of which takes the network as its way. Meanwhile interpersonal communication and the establishment of identity are closely related. This study focuses on the new web phenomenon, and takes the university student as the research object, trying to discuss their micro-blog interpersonal communication motivation-and-behavior, understand their self-exposure degree and self-identity, and relationship among the above.This research mainly starts from communication, sociology and psychology, straightening out the related research and literature review of predecessors, and taking deep grasp of micro-blog's characteristics and network interpersonal communication's characteristics. The research established a hypothesis model about the relationship between college students' motivation-and-behavior in interpersonal communication through micro-blog and self-identity, based on the common Communication Studies's framework. The model takes the motivation-and-behavior of user as independent variables, the self-exposure as metavariable, self-identity as dependent variable, and demographic factors such as gender and professional for control variables. The research investigates both the direct relation and indirect relation between motivation-and-behavior and self-identity.This study uses empirical research for method, a survey method is given priority to, complementary with interviews. Investigation is both through web based survey and paper questionnaire. Before the formal survey, eight students using micro-blog are invited to a depth interview, then 457 college students using micro-blog are invited to take part in the survey. This paper analyze 420 copies of a valid sample by the SPSS software. Research results show some assumptions, and get the following main conclusions:(1) college students' motivation of micro-blog interpersonal communication mainly have forwarding and share,focuses on hot, records, useful information, maintain the existing relationships, entertainment, enlarge interpersonal circle, instant search, advertising and business, convenience, habits and accompany, fashion and trendy, anonymous substitute and social promotion etc. Among them, the most strongly motivation is forwarding and share. And different users have very big differencese in motivation.(2) College students' behavior of micro-blog interpersonal communication is of rational and abstemious, but showed obvious difference in gender. Male are generally deeper and in more positive level of behavior than female.(3) To the relationship of motivation and behavior of college students' micro-blog interpersonal communication, the length of time is influenced by informational motivation and record-and-leisure motivation, frequency of utilization is influenced by information motivation and social motivation, and the participation levels and depth of using the micro-blog for interpersonal communication are influenced by the social motivation.(4) Compared with large-scale testing results, Jinan college students' self-exposure situation appears gender differences, men than normal while women below normal level and distribution trend is relatively concentrated.(5) Jinan college students' generally show very low self-identity, while the distribution trend also is relatively concentrated, and has a certain region characteristics. Though scoring is in the normal range, but there still needs further development and improvement on the self-indentity.(6) The motivation and behavior of college students in interpersonal communication through micro-blog have both impact on self-express degree (social motivation, use frequency and participation levels) and the establishment of self-identity (records and leisure motivation, social motivation and participation levels) in different level.(7) Except for directly affect of motivation(records and leisure motivation, social motivation) and behavior(participation levels) in interpersonal communication through micro-blog on the self-identity, there is also indirectly by means of self-exposure.
