With the development of economy and social and the advancement of Internet technology, more and more netizen spread and communicate information by Internet. Therefore, Internet has become an important exchange platform for them to know hot issues. According to CNNIC "The30th China Internet Development Statistics Report", China has538million Internet users, in which netizen between20and29have the highest ratio. Moreover, in occupation, students are the largest group. The mushroom growth of social hot events has changed undergraduates’ information cognitive style. This change is a double-edged sword. On one hand, their status are upgrading as cognitive subject. On the other hand, extreme processing of sensitive information hinder their cognitive process.This thesis is based on1000college students questionnaire. After sorting and analyzing Internet hot events and information cognitive style, combine social cognitive theory with the characteristics of college students’ cognition to study network information cognitive style from the cultural and psychological point of view. The research has detailed sorted and analyzed on the concepts of hot events and cognitive style and their relations.On theoretical foundation, this paper analyzes space and time transmission, drawing a conclusion in hot events’ model and important timing point. Secondly, in analyzing the characteristics of students in website activities and information cognitive style, this paper sums up the difference between traditional and network information cognitive style.Finally, after determining the impact of Internet social events on the undergraduates’ information cognitive style, research on positive and negative cognitive influence.With the development of the network media and the enhancement of BBS status, college students’ cognitive problems will continue to increase. The thesis is still on early stage. The author hope it can play a valuable effect and will continue to pay attention to and learn the research, improving the results.
