There are two popular ways to deal with inter-domain network management problems, namely, cooperative way and noncooperative way. There is a big obstacle for inter-domain research, which is that the information of each domain is not open to other domains, therefore, it is difficult to obtain effective data and privacy data related to specific domain. Due to this, the results and progress of inter-domain management are limited. As a result, focusing on cooperative inter-domain network management is becoming more and more important. It can not only break self-management in a single domain, but also support troubleshooting, provide better service to users that are different from that provided by single domain, support resource sharing and reduce the cost. Meanwhile, it can add network attack protection functions to inter-domain cooperative management system to make the network safer. This paper aims to design a network management system using cooperative method, and one of the services provided by this system, i.e. resource reservation, is described in details. In this paper, an inter-domain cooperative network management system framework, which is called CMMS is proposed, which consists of two layers. The upper one is management layer MANF and the lower layer is measurement layer MEAF. These two layers work together to realize inter-domain and intra-domain communication as well as resource reservation service. Specifically, two key technologies are introduced in this paper, which are topology abstraction and path finding. These two functions are the indispensable parts of CMMS to provide upper layer services.
