LTE (Long Term Evolution) project is the evolution of3G technology, commonly referred to as3.9G.It is the transition between3G technology and4G technology.It requires to achieve throughput rate100Mbps for downlink of double antenna and50Mbps for uplink in the case of20M bandwidth. Downlink of LTE contains two key technologies, OFDM (orthogonal frequency division multiplexing) technology and MIMO (Multiple-Input Multiple-Out-put) technology.This paper has an overall study about LTE physical layer downlink receiver. First it introduces the background of LTE technology and the two key technologies. Then it introduces the LTE downlink frame structure, five physical downlink channels and two physical downlink signals. And it briefly introduces GPP development platform and development tools that used in the project development.Then the paper introduces the key modules of the LTE physical downlink receiver, including the principles and algorithms involved in these modules. Finally, the paper introduces the implementation process of the key modules and the LTE physical downlinks, and describes the test methods in software development and project test case. The correctness of the test results shows that the design and realization of the the downlink receiver is practicable.
