Optical communication network as the voice and data services bearing network, re-starts to play an important role in the stage of communication networks after a period of the downturn. Now, the new network business developing puts forward higher requirements to network bandwidth. Existing communication network is more and more difficult to support such a large bandwidth demand. As a transmission network, the large bandwidth of optical communication begins to receive widespread social concern. More and more resources begin to focus on the research of optical communication network techniques, two development directions of optical communication are low cost and realizing an all-optical network.In this paper, the research object is optical network node and control technology research based on the PIC optical transmitter. There are two innovative points. One is designing a demo network for PIC module and devising demonstration cases for the application. Another is producing an original double burst type optical transceiver. The process includes theoretical research, buying components, producing product and testing the performances.First, the paper designs a demo network for PIC, describes the design processing of the demo network in detail including three levels:management plane, control plane, transport plane. Then, it designs two demonstration cases: large data transfer simulation and multicast simulation, mainly reflects the advantages of PIC module in the network application:large bandwidth and multiple wavelengths. Then, the paper designs and implements a double burst type optical transceiver. It needs to complete photo-electric/electro-optic signal conversion, and the optical transceiver is indispensable key device. The double burst type optical transceiver includes a burst transmit port and a burst receive port, mainly sends and receives the burst signal. By choosing a special burst laser driver chip, burst trans-impedance amplifier and limiting amplifier, the use of peak power detection means to control laser luminous and trans-impedance amplifier gain, and the use of DC coupling means connect each separate parts, the burst optical transceiver has a short signal response time and a good burst performance. By proposing a better device test scheme, the paper tests a variety of performance indexes, including transmitting light power, receiving sensitivity, saturated light power, and wave testing. The test results show that the optical transceiver has a performance of stable, and the waveform is good, the test results meet the design of requirements.
