In recent years, detection technology, which based on the virtual instrumentvision,is applied more and more in the industrial and agricultural processing industry.Using visual technology of the virtual instrument can detect defect. It can not onlyimproves the speed of detection and but also filters collected images, which lead noisegenerated by a variety of factors to a minimum, thus ensuring the accuracy ofdetection. In this paper, NI Lab VIEW programming system is regarded as a programdevelopment platform, combining with visual processing package IMAQ Vision andNI Vision Assistant, having the fruit images collected and managed. A fruit sortingexperimental platform control system, based on the virtual instrument vision, isdesigned and developed. The system real-time collects the fruits images through theNI1744Smart Camera. The Lab VIEW software sends the signal of processed imagesto the microcontroller through the serial port, and controls solenoid valve switchthrough MCU, thus completing the sorting of fruit. The main contents and results areas follows:(1) Analysis of the working principle of the virtual instrument vision systemdetection, and the composition of the hardware and software.(2) This article selects and programs to realize images preprocessing algorithmbased on the apple image features, it includes the gray stretch and images filtering.(3) Several image edge extraction methods are studied, and programming isdetermined for apple image edge detection algorithm.(4) It designs experimental bench based on NI system, during which MCUsystem is used to control solenoid value.(5) Design and calculation of mechanical transmission components, such as the delivery device, cylinder and nozzle. At the same time, check the strength andstiffness of related shafts.
