Itanalyzes the reports from the mainstream media of the two countries to show thedifference between the two countries’ mainstream media and then reveals theirrespective characteristics and concerns of the mainstream media of the two countries. The thesis aims to analyze the different reporting way and different way tochoose the materials and others. Then the author draws the conclusion that thereports on the international events from the American mainstream media and theChinese mainstream media differ from each other. The Chinese mainstream mediamainly promote the theme which is consistent with national policies and they are inthe national interests. When reporting on the Diaoyu Islands dispute, they also payattention to the need to guide public opinion and behaviors. However, the U.S. mediarequire the news to be attractive and sudden. The media industry as a whole isrelatively free and not deliberately consistent with the national argument. However, itis inextricably linked with the government and interest groups; therefore it isinevitably affected.
