In the modern time, people are easy to feel fatigue due to the pressure of working and life, which has serious impact on health. Good sleep is essential for health. However, a lot of people suffer from Obstructive Sleep Apnea(OSA) that seriously affects the quality of sleep. Patients prone to excessive sleepiness in daytime, and irritability, difficulty concentrating, memory loss due to nocturnal awakenings, which affects their working life during the day seriously. So the sleep respiration for family use has great market prospects. What’s more, there is someone will apnea when there’s a fire or flood. In this case, we usually treat the patients with the traditional method of artificial respiration. But the artificial respiration has some defect. For example, it would bring patients some other diseases because of improper operation or unsanitary. Thus this topic aims to design a dysfunctional ventilator for Obstructive Sleep Apnea and emergency.In this thesis, a sleep/emergency bi-functional ventilator is designed. The main chip is LM3S811that based on ARM Cortex-M3core, and the system has the external expansion LCD module, which displays the patient’s respiratory parameters. In addition, the controller can connect to the host computer; these parameters could be uploaded to the internet, aiming to facilitate the doctors for consultation.First of all, this paper not only introduces the history and the present development of respirator briefly, but also sketches out the character of ARM Cortex-M3core and the features of microprocessor LM3S811.And then, after focusing on introduce the design and building of the system hardware overall structure, including ILI9325LCD controller. MPXV5004G sensor for pressure and so on, this paper describes in detail the circuit design of every module, including the interface circuit of JTAG. the interface circuit of EEPROM, the measure circuit for analog and so on.Then, this paper introduces the software design of the whole system, the main program framework and process, the program processes of every module, for instance, the program of tracing point on the LCD, the program of character display on the LCD, the program of curve drawing on the LCD, the controlling program of CPAP.In addition, after briefly introducing PC interface which made by another partner, this paper displays the result of the experiment which the system and the host computer.Finally, this paper sums up the total works, summarizes the main achievements and shortcomings. At the same time, this paper offers some proposals and outlook of the direction of future work.
