With the development of the3G and full-service mobile operation, the traditional mobilenetwork will carry different services respectively in different independent networks, such astwo nets, providing voice services and broadband services rrespectively. This will lead toincreasing pressure on service delivery costs faced by operators, therefore, in order to reducethe network maintenance cost, improve network quality and benefits, to meet the highbandwidth requirement of3G, the need to promote the transformation of transport networkbased on IP is urgent.With the further development of3G network and mobile Internet, except the traditionalvoice service of the GSM, the other service such as the Data, video, non-real-time voice, isconstantly needed. But the3G mobile wireless base station by now can only carry theTime-division multiplexing on the physical layer which is called ATM, it has not the statisticsand multiplexing functions. Therefore, the current station is temporarily unable to adapt to thedata stream with a large bandwidth bearer, and has been increasingly unable to meet thebandwidth business development, synchronization, operation and maintenance. Traditionalmobile network is facing the problems of bandwidth.As the development of the data, video, voice and other new non-real3G services, thedemand of bandwidth for mobile and the RAN (radio access network) is increasingly high.While the traditional synchronous data series (SDH) equipment, management and otheraspects are difficult to meet the new situation of the mobile Internet developing. Building afull IP RAN network that carries comprehensive traffic fusion can greatly reduce the cost ofthe operators. It has becoming an inevitable trend of bearer network and mobile networkdevelopment. As a new type of grouping bearing technology for mobile network,the IP RANwas putted forward more requirements. It uses IP/MPLS technology, which can meet therequirements of various3G traffic. Besides, the quality of service, the good reliability andclock synchronization etc can also be ensured.This paper is based on the network construction of IP RAN in Liaoning Unicom. Thepaper first planned the overall network solutions based on IP RAN technology, and thendesigned and deployed the network routing and signaling protocols. Then, the2G timedivision multiplexing (TDM) traffic and the3G ETH traffic for IP RAN was researched andthe traffic flow model was designed, and the reliability was analyzed. Finally, the clocksynchronization and the network management were both be planned and designed based on IPRAN network planning and construction of the quality of service.In the implementation of the transmission network that belongs to the Unicom of Liaoning,I developed and formed a relatively complete plan and design according to the knowledge ofmy graduate courses, which is tracking the current packet transmission network evolutiondirection, and basing on the current status of mobile radio access network and business needs.
