Virtual tape library, the technical concept than a decade ago, there have been, buthas not been commonly used. Until recent years, the cost of disk systems is gettinglower and lower, increasing reliability, the industry began to be more and more use ofthis technology. This technology is becoming the industry’s future developmentdirection.With the rapid development of computer technology, the system data generatedby the day-to-day activities of the Government increasing number and, therefore, theamount of data backup is also growing, existing automated tape library has beenunable to meet demand, therefore, the government disaster recovery systemperformance raise becomes imminent, the old mechanical tape library has been unableto do this task, government e-government system is close to the way of online storagefor data backup, physical tape library can only meet the design requirements of theoffline storage, so how to improve the e-government system became the core of thewhole system transformation in the crash data recovery capabilities and the level ofdata backup.Virtual tape library system in the course of the study of the subject structure is athree-tier structure, namely the host layer, the virtual tape library layer and layer ofautomated tape libraries.
