As one of the hottest technologies of computer and automation area, virtual reality has been widely used in the fields of education, medical experiment, military training and so on. Virtual training combines the advantages of virtual reality technology with training. Many shortcomings of the traditional training method can be overcome. Virtual training can greatly shorten the training time, improve training speed and quality, decrease cost and reduce training risk.Based on virtual reality technology, the design of virtual training system for YYBC-2hydraulic pump cart is proposed in this paper. Firstly, the conceptions of virtual reality technology and virtual training are introduced. Base on the characteristics of the virtual training system for hydraulic pump cart, the design of overall framework and hierarchical structure of this system is accomplished. After the discussion of the CAD model and virtual reality model, the CAD model of hydraulic pump cart is converted to virtual reality model in DIVISION Mockup successfully. The directing part of this system is implemented by the Functional Simulation structure in DIVISION Mockup. And the operating part is accompanied by the connection of DIVISION Mockup software and multiple virtual peripherals, such as position tracker FOB,3-D mouse and Head Mounted Display. Collision detection and penetration limitation is discussed briefly. Finally, as a training prototype, the YYBC -2hydraulic pump cart is applied in this system.Results of this study show that this virtual training system for hydraulic pump cart provides users an immersive and friendly human-computer interaction environment. It changes the mode of operating training. Virtual training system can not only raise the efficiency of training, but also avoid losses and damages in traditional training.
