Wireless sensor network (WSN) is a distributed network, whichemerges with the development of MEMS, wireless communication andembedded technology. It is widely used in military, industry, agriculture,environmental science, medical, emergency rescue and so on. WSN hasbeen paid more and more attention and widely researched for its greatapplication potential.A large amount of data acquisition and data analysis from the realplatform can appropriately respect the network reality. At the same time,research based on real platform renders us substantive comprehensionabout application challenges and research areas. Therefore, in this paper,we make related research based on real platform.Firstly, we implement some functions such as communication,channel clear access, multi-rate on the hardware platform which isdesigned with RF CC1100and microprocessor ATMEL ATMEGA88. Then,we set up testbed with the software "wireless sensor network information acquisition system".Secondly, we realize network measurement on the real platform. Thework mainly includes two aspects: tracking data processing of nodes bythe logic analyzer, making timing analysis on the process of SPI bus datatransmission, serial data transmission and wireless data transmission;Based on the precise timing interval, we design different data collisionexperiments, make comprehensive, objective data collection from networkand analyze packet reception rate, received signal strength and networkdata collection characteristics.In many-to-one wireless sensor network model, data is alwaysoriented toward one or more center node together. So there exits datacollision, packet loss and network delay near the center node even underlight load. From aspect of data transfer rate, we put forward GradientMulti-rate in wireless sensor network for the funneling effect. Based onreal platform, large number of experiments, data statistics and relativeanalysis are made to prove that Gradient Multi-rate application in networkweakens the funneling effect and improve the system capacity, throughput and network fairness to some extent.
