With the increasingly applications of SDH/WDM optical devices in wide areanetworks, the trainings for device technicians become popular. However, most ofthem still rely on the post-sale of manufacturers, with expensive training cost andlong period. This kind of training always can not meet the requirements of technicians,who are easily troubled in increasingly network and devices varieties. To decrease thecost, reduce the period and further improve the operational ablilities of technicians,this thesis develops an optical communication traning simulation system based onSDH/WDM devices. The major tasks in this thesis are as follows.(1) This thesis analyzes the networking princeples of SDH/WDM devices,describing its common used elements and topology structures. Furthermore, itanalyzes the requirements of this simulation system so as to designs the overallarichetecture which includes the upper network management sub-system and lowerhardware simulation platform. This thesis then details the key operation models ofthis simulation system, including the data flow models of SDH/WDM, network failuremodels and alarm cover/trigger models.(2) Based on this, this thesis emphsizes the design and implementation of thistraining simulation system. Firtly, this thesis presents the design and implementationmethod for upper system, discusses its three-layer structure and five key functionmodules, and introduces its workflow, mechanism of major phases, and several keytechiniques such as VCL component and ADO based database management. Moreover,this thesis illustrates the design and implementation solution for lower system. It thendescribes the three-layer communication architecture, detailing the containedsoftware/hardware modules. Finally this thesis gives the details of hardware designsize and specifications, communication control protocols and workflows.(3) Afterwards, this thesis shows the finished system. It carries out extensivetesting for the alarm response performance, and the results show the response time isbetween1to2seconds, indicating the real-time performance meets the design. Theruntime examples in practice with couples of pictures are then presented as well.
