With the development of satellite communication technology, the demand for satellitecommunication is growing rapidly. At the same time, the functional requirements of the communicationsystem are also rising. The earth station of Portable satellite communication is highly reliable and easyto carry and operate, which is suitable for all-weather field work environment. The embeddedsystem is an important platform of modern communication technology. Because of the superiorperformances, it has a wide range of applications, such as high-performance, low powerconsumption, small size, high reliability, good stability and so on. The Embedded GUI providesusers with a friendly and convenient visual interface, which makes it so convenient fornon-professional users.This thesis developed a new type of portable satellite communication earth station productwhich is used for searching and aligning with satellites. It rotates antenna manually, indicates theeffect to search and aligns with satellite with friendly graphical user interface, which makes manualportable satellite communication earth station similar to the automatic one on accuracy, time andconvenience. This thesis is focused on the realization of the manual search-star box which used inthe portable earth station for satellite communication. The search-star box is based on embeddedLinux development platform with QT as a GUI development tool.This thesis discusses the realization of hardware and the development of software. It usesAtmel AT91SAM9G45(400MHz) as the core board which is supported by Linux operating systems.This board plays the role of core control. The Major work includes porting the embedded Linux OSto ARM9G45microprocessor hardware platform, building the host software development platformand cross-compiler environment, and designing the manual search-star box of portable earth stationfor satellite communication with Qt. By transplanting the board can be operated manually anddisplays parameters through LCD to help users to operate the manual search-star box.
