A wide range of intelligent devices such as digital TVs、smart phones and so on have beenfound commonly in the family. Although they bring great convenience to our daily lives, they resultin wasting a large number of storage and computing resources. So we need to build the homenetwork that can let these devices interconnect and share resources. The UPnP stands out from thenumerous networking standards and becomes the widely welcomed criterion because it isindependent of the network media and operating system and it uses a large number of commonnetwork protocols.The UPnP A/V playback application is an important aspect of UPnP applications. The existingUPnP A/V architecture has three different and independent entities: Control Point、Media Serverand Media Renderer; the last two entities are called UPnP A/V devices. The Media Server is used toprovide media content service; the Media Renderer is used to play the media resources; the ControlPoint is used to control and coordinate various operations between the UPnP A/V devices.Therefore, a lot of information will be exchanged between them. On the basis of these, the paperwill implement the Control Point.The thesis will study how to improve the original scheme, which mainly adds an entity thatacts registry function. The entity will interact with UPnP A/V devices and store the responseinformation that from them. Thus the Control Point interacts with UPnP A/V devices directly willtransfer to indirectly via the entity. So when there is more than one Control Point in the homenetwork, the UPnP A/V device’s information exchange efficiency will be improved in the newscheme; this will reduce unnecessary overhead. The research result has applied the patent. And thethesis will also study the weakness of UPnP criterion and propose the solutions.
