Study On Home Location Register (HLR) Redundancy Technology And Its Applications

With the rapid development of mobile communication technology and the fast increasing of thenumber of mobile users, the security and stability of the mobile core network Home LocationRegister (HLR) has been become one key issue for network performance. Traditional HLR hardwareand software backup strategy can not satisfy current redundancy requirement. It has been an urgentissue for HLR redundancy technology. Among various HLR redundancy technologies, HLRequipment level redundancy has been widely accepted as optimal choice due to its well guarantee,especially N+1redundancy mode. This thesis presents a comprehensive study on HLR redundancytechnology and its applications based on Gansu Mobile project.This thesis first describes the principle of redundancy technology and some key technologies.Secondly, a comprehensive analysis of the HLR in mobile core network and its redundancy isintroduced including comparison of different techniques such as1+1, N+1and N+M, etc. Finally, apractical HLR redundancy design and planning strategy are proposed combined with the analysis ofactual mobile network in Gansu and the specific HLR redundancy implementation mechanism.
