This paper discusses the importance of accurately simulating delay time to simulating laser ranging radar echo signal based on the working principle of range laser radar. Then it analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of separate digital delay or analog delay circuit respectively. This paper chooses the combination of digital delay and analog delay to design high-precision delay system, using digital delay to control the maximum delay range, using analog delay to control delay accuracy. Finally, the paper analyzes several factors affected delay accuracy, gives the high-precision delay system design requirements.According to the system design requirements, the delay system is mainly constituted by four functional modules, namely:the FPGA module used for digital delay; the analog delay module based on a variety of fast chips; the ARM control module used for controlling the system; the LCD input module used for data input. The combination of these four modules based on system timing completes the design of the system.Finally, for evaluating the delay system performance, the paper successively detects the functions of the various modules, then draws the waveform of each module, and compares with the theoretical simulation waveform. In addition, this paper also tests delay performance of the system. The measurement results show that the system has reached the order of magnitude of tens of picoseconds. This data is able to satisfy the needs of ranging accuracy of laser radar.
