| Modem war puts forward higher request on response time, firing accuracy and lethality of gun weapon system. Within limitation of current material and pulse power technology, electrothermal chemical (ETC) gun technology can improve the interior ballistic performance, muzzle velocity of projectile and firing accuracy, using electrothermal plasma to ignite, argument and control combusition of propellant charge based on the charge of traditional gun. The jet characteristics, electrical characteristics and structure characteristics of plasma generator, the key part of energy conversion inside an ETC gun, are getting more and more attention.This article mainly analyses the working principle and working process of electrothermal plasma generator, then puts forward design principles and methods. According to the high-temperature,high-chamber-pressure and high-voltage working environment of plasma generator, selection insulation materials and sealing structure for the plasma generator was made based on analysis and summarization of the current insulation technology and sealing technology. In order, to analyze and calculate the working strength of plasma generator, the working load and the possible failure modes of plasma generator was analyzed, and ANSYS software was used to analyze the stress under steady state and transient loads in the working process of plasma generator. Optimizations design the size of metal shell and the insulation layer was done by using ANSYS software.Analytical and calculated results of ANSYS software show the design of plasma generator meet the strength requirements, and optimization results reduced the size, weight, and maximal stress, and also verified the feasibility of the design method. |
