With the rapid development of industrial automation, machine vision system is becoming more and more popular in industrial application. As the core part of industrial machine vision system, industrial camera determines the quality and the transmission rate of the captured image. In this dissertation, a research has been made on a linear CCD camera applied to industrial inspection, based on the advantages of the CCD sensor, such as high real time, high resolution, low noise etc.The dissertation describes the entire hardware design process for linear CCD camera system. The hardware of inear CCD camera system includes CCD bias voltage circuit, CCD timing-driven circuit, CCD output signal processing circuit, AD sampling circuit, FPGA configuration circuit, the memory interface circuit and Gigabit Ethernet interface circuit. The dissertation also describes the entire software design process for the linear CCD camera system. System software design includes CCD timing-driven programming, AD timing-driven programming and Nios Ⅱ programming. Nios Ⅱ programming consists of Gigabit Ethernet driver and image transfer program. In addition, the function of the system has been tested and analysed in the dissertation. The timing-driven simulation waveforms and the measured waveform graph were also presented.Finally, CCD image sensor noise sources and their causes were analysed, and an algorithm of calibrating image based on FPGA was researched. Experiments indicates that the noise was suppressed and the edges of the image were enhanced. Therefore, the system is more conducive to industrial inspection.
