The LED display is the late eighties in the rapid global development of a new type of display media. Traditional LED display information input is only through the data cable from the computer directly connected to, usually using RS232as a data transfer standard, the maximum baud rate is generally not more than115200bps its inherent low-speed characteristics restrictions LED display content quickly updated simultaneously. For traditional LED display can not meet the need for real-time telematics; using SMS text message control will have to display fonts and word limit; using GPRS wireless network communications can be a good solution to remote information dissemination and large-scale group network problems, but their high cost, poor stability.In this paper, the problems of large-screen LED display system, taking into account the advantages and disadvantages of the different control modes, combined with today’s advanced microcontroller products, control and communication technology, launched by TI’s Stellaris family of Cortex-M3core, new generation32-bit embedded RISC microprocessor composed of a pre-driver circuit, the innovative integration of markets used three different control modes:UART serial control mode, the SMS SMS control mode and GPRS wireless control mode with a control card. Stable display and with the traditional comparison based on8/16of the LED display of the ordinary single-chip system, the system is not a significant increase in system cost, can support a larger viewable area of the content updated in real time control, can be stored more more than the contents of the display, and the control mode is more flexible to meet different customer control demand.Thesis completed the following works:(1) Design of display system hardwareCortex-M3core microcontroller LM3S1138, the external expansion FLASH memory chip EN25F32, display the content through the serial port SMS SMS and GPRS network in three ways to be sent from the host computer to the LED display controller, and then the text is displayed in the dot matrix The effect of the screen, as well as through the host computer on the dot matrix display brightness, display control.(2) The preparation of this thesis PC software and lower machine software, lower computer software by the main program and the special effects program is composed of two parts, the main program to complete initialization is also responsible for the display, serial port using interrupt and host communications. PC software using C+to write the content displayed on the the lower machine’s display settings.The results of this research in the debug LED display system can achieve the desired function, and has been initially applied in the joint venture products, and verify the effectiveness and practicality of the method to achieve the desired objectives.
