ROF And Embedded Based Design Of Home Gateway

At present, the home network business was the explosive growth, thebandwidth of existing wireless access technology have become thebottleneck of the development of family comprehensive network business.Home gateway (HG) as a hub of family internal network and the externalnetwork, that determines the connection speed between internal networkequipment and the external network.At first, the structure of Home gateway system(HGS) which base onOptical-Wireless Access Networks(OWAN) is given in this paper, anddesign the main gateway system which include60GHz millimeter wavegateway module, WiMax gateway module and sub-gateway system in thestructure. By the use of the radio over fiber (ROF) technology to make60GHz millimeter wave gateway module and WiMax wireless technologygateway module realize in physics, and also offers a embeddedsub-gateway system scheme which base on ARM9and Linux. Thesub-gateway system takes the S3C2440A chip as its croprocessor. We take processor as the core of the sub-gateway system and extension otherhardware. Combined with software that user can remote access gatewaysystems and manage family network equipment through the Web form.In the aspect of hardware platform design, this paper propose theS3C2440A processor–based hardware platform， and extended theSDRAM module, Ethernet module, UART module, NANDFlash module,temperature sensing module and the wireless transmission module basedon WiFi.In the aspect of software platform design, first, we modified andtransplant the boot, and then add driver of each extended hardwaremodules,and transplant the modified Linux kernel and file system to thesub-gateway systems; The second step, we analysis and design the Webserver on the base of the Linux operating system, and introduce embeddeddatabase SQLite. So,the user can remote access gateway system andmange the equipment of family in the form of Web pages.In order to communication with family network equipment，wedesign the network protocol in this paper, and on this basis of that wewrite the CGI application to realize the dynamic HTTP requests. At last， we test and analysis the response time of Web server and CGI application，and proves the sub-gateway system’s solutions up to the requirements ofpractical utility.
