A seal is a trace covered on paper or other carrier by colored pigments, reflecting theshape of seal surface. Since ancient times, the seal is a symbol of power and rank and aproof of identity and behavior. Seal initially played the role of the security,confidentiality and anti-counterfeiting in the process of cargo transportation and storageas well as the documents and bamboo slips. After Qin unified, the emperor’s seal hadbeen called Xi and the subjects’ called Yin. Xi became the symbol of feudal imperialpower and rank, and Yin became the certificate of officials’ right and the pledge ofcommon people in social life. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, seal also served asa symbol of credit, identity and status, generally used in terms of economic, political,cultural and other official documents, bills, contracts, etc., stamped to prove itsauthenticity.The computer seal automatic screening system is to analyze and judge thedifferences between the original reserved imprints and the imprints that need identifyingto see whether they come from the same seal. This scheme can put an end to the sealscreening errors caused by human factors, and to reduce the possibility of fraud.With the social and economic development, more and more economic, civil andcriminal cases related to the seal. Therefore, the seal screening plays more and moreimportant role in enterprises, banks, prosecutors, courts, schools, and employment units.In order to adapt to the accurate and fast seal screening requirements, to achieve rapid,rigorous seal screening becomes an urgent problem to be solved, taking advantage ofthe popularity of computer office conditions and applications software development.Due to the adoption of computer seal screening system, not only can rapidly realize theartificial screening method, but also can realize the function that artificial screeningcannot do. This paper first mainly discusses the research background, the research goaland the significance, the domestic and foreign development condition of the computerseal screening system, and the system used in the theory of knowledge and technology,such as JSP, WEB database, Tomcat, B/S mode, SQL Server, etc. in detail. And then itmakes analysis for the system needs and feasibility, and its detail design anddevelopment. Subsequently it also makes related introductions of seal image processing. Finally we will achieve a computer seal screening system.In this paper, the computer seal screening system mainly include: image acquisition,seal screening, database management. The seal screening is to automatically identify theseal of authenticity through pattern recognition and digital image processing.The system adopts JSP, Tomcat and Javabean development mode. The backgrounddatabase uses SQL Server2000. The application logic uses SQL, and the interfacerealizes with Html and Javascript technology. All the tables access through Javabeanwhich database accesses through JDBC. And combining with the WEB databasetechnology achieves the data exchange between foreground and background. Theexperimental results show that: the system is basically able to identify and deal withenterprises’ and institutions’ seal imprints.
