HINOC (High performance Network Over Coax) technology aims to set up the broad-band access network in the final100meters scopes, using the exiting coaxial cable of the CATV (Community Antenna Television) network. HINOC provides high-speed and high-quality access for multi-services, such as IPTV, SDTV/HDTV and data. What’s more, it can reflect the specific needs of different services for different users.The function and mechanism of Convergence Sublayer (CS) of HINOC MAC is focused by this paper. The structure of the network and the MAC mechanism are studied firstly. Then the priority-based CS is presented. The Multicast address forwarding table based on the IGMP Snooping technology is built up as well as the solution how to support VLAN in the HINOC network is proposed. And the effect that mechanism of the CS to the network performance of HINOC is studied by experiments on the Simulation Platform. Finally, the concept of flow is brought into HINOC to provide parameter-based QoS. The traffic and service classification is analyzed, and the parameters to describe a flow, the procedures to set-up, modify or tear down a flow are introduced. Moreover, the CS of HINOC network based on the flow is briefly designed.
