At present, the rapid development of the global mobile data business, the higher performance requirements of business applications like uplink data rate and delay, and the extensive application of HSDPA technology has greatly promoted the demand of HSUPA technology. They have becomed the main driving force of HSUPA technical business. At present, a greater demand for the type of business is still the following acts in TD-SCDMA network, and the specific time point of HSUPA introduction depends on the main business requirement which needed by the network. But with the media and diversify network in the future, and the obvious needs of those business, HSUPA technology will be introduced into the network gradually. So the study of the HSPA technology in TD-SCDMA system is significant. HSPA is the general name for HSDPA and HSUPA. The network developed in2008. But the industry discusses HSPA rather than a single HSDPA or HSUPA. Because of the diversity of business needs and the high quality of service, a single downlink or up enhancement can’t solve the problem. So we need the unification of upper and lower line enhancement to meet the growing business needs.This paper begins with the HSPA technology background, analysises and introduces this technology comprehensivly through the standardization of HSPA technology progress in the TD-SCDMA system, the key technical details, performance, change of equipment, and the research of contrasting to HSDPA technology. Through the research, the simulation circumstance is established by OPNET and is used to analysis HSDPA, HSUPA, HSPA+level in different circumstances (macrocell, microcell, picocell) and different parameter dispose, and the system performance by its accuracy and effective function. Base on it, the study of HSDPA, HSUPA and HSPA+’s performance in TD-SCDMA is done. So the results of performance simulation can be contrasted. The Simulation analysis tells us that TD-SCDMA HSDPA uses64QAM modulation to improve the throughput in macro cell and microcell. But in some scenarios,64QAM modulation can’t improve the rate of cell edge user. TD-SCDMA HSUPA uses16QAM modulation to improve the system’s throughput. In TD-SCDMA HSPA+system, macro cell scenario uses traditional intelligent antenna and64QAM+SA modulation.It will be valuable in the development of the follow-up TD-SCDMA and the formulation of the related standard. And it is significant in the future evolution of strategy and key technology, and the related standardization work.
