In this paper, the development process of an intelligent controller used inindependent solar street lamp system is demonstrated. Both the hardware and softwarefor charging and discharging circuit are analyzed and designed in detail.First, the system scheme of the independent solar street lamp system is presented.In charging circuit part, Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) problem of the solarcell is analyzed, and the lead-acid storage battery charging strategy is optimized.Charging hardware circuit based on Buck circuit is developed. Control software for thesystem is developed, which realizes the combined MPPT high-current charging,constant-voltage charging and floating charging, that are referred to as three-phasecharging. In discharging circuit part, based on the load characteristic of LED, suitabledischarging strategy is designed, constant current source driving circuit based on Bucktype switching power supply is developed. The control software is also programmed,which realizes constant current discharging. In addition, debugging software running onthe upper computer is developed.At present, our intelligent controller has been applied in practice, and has realizedthe basic charging and discharging function, overcurrent protection, anti-accessprotection and short circuit protection, etc.
