The Implementation Of License Plate Character Segmentation System Based On DM6467

With the development and application of multimedia technology, digital videobecomes more and more popular. At the same time, Intelligent Transportation System（ITS）is closely related with embedded multimedia platforms in recent years.DM6467is a new digital media processor about DaVinci technology launched by TexasInstruments (TI). It is mainly composed of an ARM9core, a DSP core of C64x, and ahigh definition video/image coprocessor (HDVICP). Because of the softwarearchitecture used in DaVinci technology, the independence of algorithms andapplications is greatly enhanced, and algorithms also enjoy excellent expandability. Thethesis firstly analyzed the Davinci technology in detail, including the communicationmechanism between ARM and DSP, the principle of Codec Engine, Codec Server, andthe invoking mechanism of VISA. Secondly, the segmentation algorithms of licenseplate character were implemented based on DM6467, including graying of image, edgedetection, binarization, license plate location, character segmentation and normalization.Finally, a brief analysis of the processing result was given.
