Internet of Things (IoT) is a goal of science and technology research which wins great attention in recent years. Sensing technology and radio-frequency identification are key technologies in the applications of IoT. Sensing receives a signal or stimulus and responds to it in a distinctive manner, thus converting any physical or biological quantity into any measurable output signal. Radio-frequency Identification achieves automatic identifications of items via radio signals. The combination of both technologies will let us get the items’both identity and status. One problem that stymies the development of IoT is the non-interoperability of sensors. The latest ISO/IEC/IEEE21451-7transducer protocol aims at addressing this problem. This thesis designs and realizes a UHF sensor tag digital system conforming to ISO/IEC/IEEE21451-7and ISO/IEC18000-6C protocol. In this design, the digital baseband employs a FSM (Finite State Machine) to process general UHF RFID commands and an embedded MCU (micro control unit) to handle data and commands related with sensors. The FSM interact with the MCU by SFR(special functional register) and RAM. This structure can meet the strictly part of timing requirements defined in ISO18000-6C and can easily support a variety of sensors. The embedded microprocessor not only drive sensor data, records but also analyses ISO/IEC/IEEE21451-7commands, store return data to RAM for output module sending to the RFID reader. We checked the digital baseband designed in this thesis by simulation and FPGA verification and found it can meet the ISO/IEC/IEEE21451-7protocol. The digital baseband occupies27k gates on SMIC0.13μm digital process after synthesis and consumes about15μA when working at1.28MHz clock and1.2V power supply reported by NanoSim.
