Recently LED application in general lighting grows rapidly. LED products are in line with the direction of the national energy-saving and emission-reduction policy at present because of their energy-saving characteristic. Given LED cost is high at present, outdoor lighting is one of the best starting points for LED to enter the general lighting field. As the main body of outdoor lighting, road light can have good demonstration effect on the promotion of LED. The power LED street light has become the focus of local government infrastructure investment in support of national relevant policies. For LED has several advantages such as low power consumption and convenience to be controlled, it is necessary to design an intelligent street light monitor and control system, which can fully demonstrate LED’s advantages.This dissertation studies a street lighting supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system, which combines power line communication (PLC) and GPRS technology. The system connects the central controller and local controller based on GPRS technology, and controls street light through local cotorller with PLC technology. At last, with the dimmable LED street light driver, the functions of telecontrol, telemeter, telesignalisation and teleregulation on street light are realized.Firstly, the characteristic of LED determines that it needs constant current driver. This dissertation analyses working principle and characteristics of three kinds of current control methods. Combined with design demands, this dissertation selects the hysteretic control method and ZXLD1356chip, introduces the circuit design of adjustable light LED constant current driver based on ZXLD1356, and calculates the corresponding parameters as well as selects the appropriate components.Meanwhile, the hardware development of the LED street light SCADA system is introduced. After preliminary research and analysis, we select the power line carrier chip and the corresponding centralized controller. In the design process, we focus on the controller terminal circuit design. In addition, the carrier module and peripheral circuits are introduced in detail.Finally, the software development of LED street light SCADA system is introduced. The software design task mainly includes controller terminal’s MCU program and the PC program. The design and flow chart of the MCU software are given based on the introduction of communication data format between the carrier module and MCU. Moreover, detailed design of PC program is introduced, such as select of development platform, program structure, program workflow, program interface, program functions and so on.After completion of the hardware platform and software development, an experiment is necessary to test the performance of the LED street light SCADA system. This dissertation builds an experiment platform in the laboratory, to verify all the functions of the system and its robustness. After that, an experiment was implemented on the road of campus to verify the reliability of the system. The results show that the functions of the proposed system can be realized normally, and the communication quality is guaranteed. During the design and experiment process, some problems are revealed, and further improvements are proposed at the ending.
