At the end of2008, the aging population of China has reached169million, accounting for12.79%of the total population. China has the largest aging population in the world. The elderly population in China accounts for one fifth of the world’s total elderly population. The four vital signs as breathing, body temperature, pulse and blood pressure are the basic activities of the body to maintain normal state. Abnormalities in vital signs can cause serious or fatal diseases. The initiative that makes big breakthroughs in sensor networks has received a positive response from the majority of scientists in2009. Making good use of this advanced technology to help our elderly healthcare is very important. At the same time, to some extent, remote health care system based on BSN can alleviate the problem of hospital crowding and the phenomena of seeing a doctor difficultly.This thesis has designed and implemented a wearable remote healthcare system based on body sensor network. The thesis includes the following aspects:(1) The status and development of body sensor networks, mobile health and remote healthcare system have been analyzed, a wearable remote health healthcare system based on body sensor network has been designed and a system prototype has been implemented.(2) Considering the actual demand for body sensor network and the healthcare system, the three wireless communication technologies have been analyzed and compared. A wearable design has been put up considering requirements of the wearable design about sensor nodes in the human body sensor network.(3) The development smart phone health application has been analyzed, the Android system development foundation and some limitation in app development in comparation with PCs are introduced. At last the mobile gateway is implemented.Overall, the prototype of remote healthcare system in this thesis is comfortable and convenient, cheap, and able to meet the requirements of remote healthcare in different scenes.
