H.264is a digital video compression standard developed jointly by the ITU-T and MPEG organizations. Compared to the previous standard,H.264standard can significantly improve the image compression rate and high image quality through a lower bit rate. With the widespread popularity of HD video applications in recent years, H.264standard has also been widely used. In order to meet the highly complex computing needs of the H.264standard, the use of multi-core processors for high-definition video codec becomes a latest trend in the field of high-definition video applications.In this thesis, in order to meet the demand of the high-definition video, research a high quality parallel decoding algorithm based on the homogeneous multi-core platform. First, this algorithm realizes the parallel entropy decoding for the video stream sequence using the parallel characteristic in the process of entropy decoding of different video frames. This could reduce the delay of the video sequence decoding. Secondly, this algorithm realizes the parallel reconstruction of video frame. The parallel task partition is based on the decoding function module. The parallel pipeline execute the reconstruction process on different macroblock line in a frame. This could improve the efficiency of the reconstruction and avoid the conflict of the data among different cores. Finally, in the loop filter module, which is a very time-consuming part of the decoding process, this algorithm realizes the parallel loop filter based on the dependency of different macroblocks in the process of filter. This could improve the overall efficiency of the parallel decoder.Experimental results indicate that this algorithm improves the effiency and the parallelization of the decoder, realizes the real-time decoding of high-definition1080P video stream on the TILEPro64platform. This algorithm realizes a high parallel speedup and speeds up the decoding process by8.15at most.
