Way-Finding System Design has been influencing people’s daily life from its beginning to the present. With clear and fast directing function as its basis for construction, there have been some basic standards in guide signs, basic forms, and basic categories during the decades of development in way-finding system design and its research. As a visual aid to serve the public, most of its audiences are normal adults. However, this popular standard can not be applied to certain group of people, like children. Therefore, it is essential to provide way-finding service for certain group of people in some certain public places.The development and advancement of modern society as well as upgrade in science and technology make the new way-finding system design possible. The media on which way-finding system are based and methods are making a revolutionary change gradually. The new technology and media are increasingly affecting people’s methods and their habits to find ways. The Way-Finding System integrates more interaction between people and machine, dynamic images and spatial experience to meet people’s requirements for finding ways to a larger extent and to improve their cognitive ability in information.Based on defined information of children, this paper sums up the factors of visual perception, auditory perception, sensorial perception of children’s senses by researching the construction of children’s cognitive system in space. Combined with the current situation of multi-media design and the analysis of excellent study on multi-media design for children, the paper puts forward the principles and methods that require attention while in the process of muiti-media way-finding system design for children. In this way, it gives designers some references in the field of way-finding system design for children in the future and to avoid some errors for leading a new trend of children’s way finding system design in the future.
