The damage caused by the soil erosion is very serious, so we must pay much attention and take effective measures to prevent the damage. The change of erosion rate reflects regional soil erosion characteristics and is also an important basis for the design of protective measures. The measurement of soil erosion has effects on national macro policy, so the monitoring system of soil erosion is particularly important. According to the external force, soil erosion can be divided into hydraulic erosion, gravitational erosion, wind erosion, freeze-thaw erosion and man-made erosion. During these soil erosion types, water erosion is very common. To solve problems in existing system, this article design a soil erosion monitoring system based on photocell, which can automatically measure soil erosion in small regions, and the data can be monitored using Internet by the remote computer.The whole system can be divided into data acquisition terminal. Hub module, video signal acquisition module, the local monitoring terminal and remote monitoring terminal. Data acquisition terminal consists of detection module, signal conditioning circuit, regional control module, display module and communication module. The Module is used to collect the cell voltage signal and temperature data, and delivering the data to local monitoring terminal though the Modbus network. Hub module is mainly used for archiving electrical connection between regional control module and the local monitoring terminal. Remote monitoring terminal and local monitoring terminal are mainly used in monitoring the system, threshold settings and data storage and analysis. Finally, to verify the accuracy and feasibility of the system, we debug hardware and software of the system and do some experiments. Meantime, we find some problems in the system and do our efforts to solve them to build the foundation of next research.
