The database has gradually become the core part of information system and haswidely applied in medical, finance, government, military and other fields. With theincreasing large data sharing, the problem of database security becomes more andmore sharp, and the works of database security also get more important. Even underthe protect of identity verification, firewalls and the intrusion detection system, theexisting data as plain text are also easy to steal, falsify, theft and destruct. So thesecurity problem of huge data and the anti-theft problem of high sensitive data havebecome the current and important issues in computer security field. Related statisticsshow that80percent of computer crime being from the people within the system.Because the administrator has the supreme power in a traditional database system, henot only is responsible for resource allocation, system audits and grant userpermissions, but also is able to check all the information in the database at any time.One hand to cut the power of the database administrator, on the other hand to preventimportant and sensitive data from being theft and tampered by a malicious attacker,sothe implementation of the database encryption processing is imperative. Databaseencryption is an important means to improve the safety of the database.This paper is mainly aimed at the database security problems of the encryptiontechnology, and discusses the database security technology and related databaseencryption technology. According to the research project of a electronic medicalrecords system development, this paper defined AES encryption algorithm to encryptfor the electronic medical records database. In theory, the thesis studied AESencryption algorithm and optimized AES S box, which made the improved S box hadbetter algebraic properties. Through the study of the database’s each function module,the paper designed and realized the system login validation and encryption/decryptionengine module. At the same time, the thesis designed a encryption system forelectronic medical records system under VB and SQL2000development environment.Through the tests and analysis, this paper show that the design of the system realizedthe electronic medical records system to the database security needs.
