The traditional IP Camera application interfaces are mainly private interfaces, and so theinteroperability is poor between network equipments and management platforms. Therefore, it isactually valuable to research standardized application interfaces of IP Camera. In order to solve the problem that the difficult interoperability between different IP Cameras andvideo surveillance systems using the traditional private application interfaces, the standardizedapplication interfaces of IP Camera are studied and implemented based on the ONVIF technologyspecification. According to the roles of IP Camera in network video surveillance system, therequirements of IP Camera are analyzed; based on analyzing the technical documents of devicediscovery, device management, media service and ptz control in ONVIF technology specification, the ONVIF services included in the standardized application interfaces are determined; thearchitecture of implementing the standardized application interfaces based on loose couplingprinciple is designed; and the standardized application interfaces in client part are implemented byusing Web Services development platform gSOAP.In order to simplify the application development process based on the standardized applicationinterfaces and reduce the difficulty and cost of development, the encapsulating the standardizedapplication interfaces using Dynamic Link Library for C compiler style on Windows platform isdesigned and implemented. In order to test the functionality and compatibility of the standardizedapplication interfaces, a prototype of network video surveillance system is implemented. Under theexperimental environment, the functionality and compatibility of the standardized applicationinterfaces are tested. The result shows the functions of the standardized application interfaces arecorrect, and ONVIF-compliant.
