IPv6protocol is the next-generation Internet protocol proposed by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), which has many improvements to IPv4including address field extended to128hit, simple fixed header, abolishment of the IP layer checksum and intermediate node slice, flexible extension header, new stream marker domain address configuration, automatic address configuration, IPSec authentication, and encryption enhancements, etc. The widely application of IPv4in various networks make it an important issue IPv4to IPv6transition technologies and implementation strategies. This thesis presents a comprehensive and in-depth research on IPv6transistion technologies and application platform deployment strategies in Jiangsu Maitime institute campus network. This thesis presents the emergence and development of IPv6protocol, comparisons of IPv6and IPv4firstly. Then, a comprehensive analysis of the principle of IPv6technology is proposed including IPv6header structure, address structure, routing technology, mobile technology and security mechanisms, etc. The IPv6transition technology is analyzed indetail combining with analysis of IPv6new features on existing networks. Finally, based on the analysis of actual campus network of Jiangsu Maitime institute, this thesis presents existing network problem analysis, campus network planning, application service platform deployment strategy, and implementation suggestion, respectively.
