Research And Design Of Quality Of Service (QoS) In Metropolitanarea Network

With the rapid development of internet and other application services,especially such multi-media services as the traditional voice, video meeting,VOD, IPTV, it is very important that all sorts of services should beintegrated into IP network. During the integration, the application of QoStechniques plays an important role. As the Changzhou Branch of ChinaUnicom Network Communications Co., Ltd. has changed from afundamental network service provider into an all-round information serviceprovider, and its business has also developed diversely, it has become ourmajor concern that how to guarantee the quality of the diversified servicesand conduct differential management of service quality in the mean time.This paper, points out the urgent need of QoS based on the analysis ofcurrent network, makes a brief introduction of QoS, and presents threemodels and its techniques. Besides, in view of the current situation and thefuture development of Jiangsu Unicom and Changzhou Unicom, this paperposes the designing of QoS in the Unicom metropolitan area network, andanalyses the advantages and disadvantages in the process; in doing so, it isexpected that some good ideas and suggestions can be put forward on thelarge-scale design of next generation network, and that telecommunicationenterprises could improve the capabilities of network operation and businessdevelopment.
