UWB (ultra-wideband) is a new technology for wireless communication which directlymodulates nanosecond shock pulse. Therefore, the bandwidth of the signal is of GHz magnitude.Ultra-wideband antenna is a key part in the ultra-wideband communication system, it is a part usedto realize the mutual exchange between guided wave and free space wave and, it can be divided intotransmitting antenna and receiving antenna which can transmit and receive radio wave respectively.Ultra-wideband antenna can be widely used in detecting environments and resources, radar andsatellite communications. The thesis proceeds from ultra-wideband antenna to study firstly its current developmentalsituation which includes the basic theories of ultra-wideband, its analytical methods andtechnological requirements. Secondly, the thesis starts from a planar monopole micro strip antennato expand its band width by means of cutting grooves and slot loading etc. Next, miniaturize theantenna by cutting away the part with weak current in the radiation patch. Last, the dualband-notched characteristics are realized by cutting a U-shaped groove in the radiation patch andthe micro-strip feeder. Moreover, HFSS is used to conduct simulation calculation so as to getvarious performance parameter of the antenna, to testify its frequency band range of3.1GHz~10.6GHz, and to meet the design requirement of the ultra-wideband antenna. And process and test someof the antennas to verify the accuracy of the simulation results. In the end, the thesis discusses theinsufficiency of the antenna and future improvements.
