With the development of wireless communication,the transmission data rate for wirelesscommunication requirements are also increasing.Ultra Wideband wireless technology is beingconsidered as the solution to overcome data rate bottlenecks in the wireless communications andapplications. Ultra Wideband is able to achieve high data transmission rates because it transmitsdata over a very large spectrum of frequencies from3.1GHz to10.6GHz (7.5GHz). Consequently,it provides many challenges for design in the communications arena, including antenna design.The main objective of this thesis is to study, design, analyze and implement novel UltraWideband low profile printed patch antennas that satisfy Ultra Wideband technologyrequirements.In order to aviod inteference caused fromWiMAX band and WLAN band at theantenna port, diferent notch structures should be loaded in ultra-wideband antenna to achievedual-notch characteristic at3.5GHz and5.5GHz. In the designing of antenna,High FrequencyStructure Simulator (HFSS) software tools are used to simulate and optimize the structure ofantenna. The main work and contributions of the thesis include:(1) Two different UWB antennas are proposed in the thesis, different bandwidth-enhancementtechniques are showed in the thesis,the performance of the simulated results of the antenna areanalyzed.(2) Two different loaded structures of the double-notch ultra-wideband antenna are designed inthe thesis, the equivalent circuit model of the structure of the notch is showed, the structure of thenotch impact on the antenna are analyzed, the performance of the simulated results of the notchantenna are studied.(3) All design of the antenna is fabricated and measured toverify the accuracy of the design.Several UWB antennas are designed to satisfy UWB system, complementary split ringresonator structure is introduced to achieve double notch characteristics of ultra-wideband antenna,anew structure in the design of the double notch of the ultra wideband antenna is provided, designedUWB antenna is suitable for the practical application.
