Due to the influence of the environmental factors, the surface of the materials in thenatural environment will be a variety of corrosion characteristics. The appearance ofcorrosion materials is an important manifestation of material environmental adaptability,the corrosion morphology is not only an important feature of the corrosion resistance ofmaterials, but also an indispensable data source for evaluating the environmentaladaptability of the material. There is a direct correlation between the various environmentalfactors and the production of the corrosion characteristics. The analysis of the associationis very important in corrosion studies of material area. Therefore, accurate detection anddescription of the corrosion characteristics of the material appearance and the research ofthe association between the corrosion situation and the environment, they are the veryimportant and basic technology of analysis environmental adaptability of material.Often using manual observation and testing to acquire and test the material corrosioncharacteristics, but for the factors of different people and experience, the results of the testand the testing standards are often inconsistent. And the naked-eye observation easy causeundetected happen for the visual bias prone. In general manual test always get thequalitative data, but less quantitative data. In addition, the variety factors of environmentwill produce different effects on the material corrosion. So study the tightness of theassociation between them has a great significance for anti-corrosion of materials. But manyanalysis of the relationship between environment and corrosion are based on theexperience and subjective analysis. This method just can get the vague result to draw whatfactors have an impact on material corrosion, but not a specific analysis to give the strengthof the degree of the various environmental factors on material corrosion.At present, with the development of computer technology, database technology andimage processing technology, the image technology apply and develop in various fields,and achieve better results. According to the shortage of the manual assay measuring thecorrosion characteristics of the material appearance and subjective analysis of materialscorrosion correlation with environmental factors, Here use image acquisition system andits equipment to obtain image information of corrosion materials, And use the Imageprocessing technology for image enhancement and image segmentation on the acquisitionof material appearance of corrosion. Extract interested in the appearance corrosioncharacteristics, and then measuring the corrosion morphology, such as: the size of corrosion characteristics, number and area percentage, Get the result with the quantitativeand digital characteristics, and use the rank judgment technology to judge the corrosiondegree of the material. Finally, using the gray theory relevancy calculate model forquantitative analysis the tightness of association between the corrosion of materialappearance and environmental factors.The paper outlines the development of material corrosion research, described thebackground and significance of the research to discuss the application in the system ofimage processing technology, database technology and associated analytical techniques.The contents of this paper to adapt to the current scientific and technological developmentand updating, and has some practical value.
